About

Julia Hill earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the Technical University of Kaiserslautern-Landau in the Rhineland-Palatinate region of Germany. For her bachelor’s thesis, she worked in Prof. Dr. Antonio Pierik’s research group, focusing on characterizing an enzyme from Clostridium viride that is involved in the degradation of 5-aminovalerate. She then earned a master’s degree in toxicology. For her master's thesis, she investigated copper-induced dyshomeostasis in human brain cells in the research group of Jun.-Prof. Dr. Barbara Witt.

Since 2026, she has been pursuing her Ph.D. in Dr. Florian Hubrich’s junior research group. Her research focuses on discovering and characterizing amide-bond-forming enzymes, as well as the enzymatic modification of ribosomal and synthetic peptides.
