Sumire studied Agricultural and Life Sciences in the University of Tokyo in Japan from 2016 to 2022. She worked on the elucidation of unprecedented biosynthetic mechanisms in Streptomyces and obtained her M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Makoto Nishiyama. After she continued to work in the same group as a postdoc for several months, she joined to the Prof. Dr. Rolf Müller´s group in August 2022 as a postdoctoral fellow funded by the Naito Foundation. Sumire´s work focuses on the discovery of novel antibiotics produced via the promising biosynthetic systems in Myxobacteria and the elucidation of biosynthetic pathways to expand the drug leads library.
