Dr Nicole Schneider-Daum

About

Nicole Schneider-Daum studied Food Chemistry at the University of Kaiserslautern. After research visits at the University of Campinas (Unicamp, Brazil) and the University of Murcia (Spain) she graduated in 2000. After her PhD studies at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg, she joined the Department of Biopharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology at Saarland University in 2004 working on the interaction of nanoparticles and biological barriers.
In 2010 Nicole Schneider-Daum started as senior scientist in the department “Drug Delivery” of the Helmholtz Institute for Pharmaceutical Research Saarland (HIPS) focusing on the establishment of complex and advanced in vitro models of the respiratory tract. This research helps to design platforms for testing novel antiinfectives and new drug delivery systems, but also to develop alternatives to animal experiments.

Nicole Schneider-Daum is general safety officer and biological safety officer at the department “Drug Delivery” and member of the HZI mediators’ team.
