Beshoy Tawfik

About

Beshoy graduated with highest honors in Pharmacy from the German University in Cairo (GUC), Egypt, in 2021. His academic journey includes two years as an academic teaching assistant in the Pharmaceutical Chemistry department at the GUC. Simultaneously, he pursued his master studies in Prof. Ashraf Abadi’s group, focusing on the design and synthesis of novel anti-cancer agents as inhibitors for PD-1/PD-L1 immune checkpoint interactions. Awarded with a DAAD scholarship in 2022, Beshoy conducted part of his research at the Helmholtz Institute for Pharmaceutical Research Saarland (HIPS) for six months. In August 2023, he obtained his master's degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the GUC. Since November 2023, Beshoy started as a PhD student at Saarland University/HIPS in the group Chemical Biology of Carbohydrates lead by Prof. Dr. Alexander Titz and in cooperation with Prof. Dr. Markus Bischoff at Saarland University Medical Center. His research focus is on the development of pathoblockers targeting the lectin EclA from Enterobacter cloacae.
