Marcel Miodek

About

Marcel Miodek completed his Bachelor's degree in Chemistry at Saarland University in 2023. During his Bachelor's thesis, he synthesized substituted prolines via Matteson homologation. Following a period of employment as a student research assistant in the research group of Prof. Dr. Alexander Titz during his Master's studies, he focused his Master's thesis in 2025 on the synthesis of novel antibiotics against A. baumannii. Since early 2026, Marcel has been working as a PhD candidate under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Alexander Titz at Saarland University in the group Chemical Biology of Carbohydrates (CBCH). As part of a DFG-funded collaboration with Prof. Dr. Christoph Mayer at the University of Tübingen, he synthesizes fluorogenic substrates to investigate cell wall recycling in Gram-positive bacteria.
