Leon studied Human- and Molecular Biology at the ZHMB of Saarland University. His master thesis, written under the supervision of Prof. Claus-Michael Lehr, pertained the usage of lanthipeptides for cancer cell targeting in a novel drug delivery model based on encapsulin. Since 2024, he is working towards his PhD in a joint project between Prof. Claus-Michael Lehr and Dr. Florian Hubrich, the topic being the prenylation of high-selective targeting peptides to develop a micelle-like drug-delivery system.
