Guangyi Chen holds a Master’s degree in Plant Sciences from Wageningen University & Research, Netherlands and a Master’s degree in Bioinformatics from Saarland University, Germany. He started as a PhD student in Drug Bioinformatics group in HIPS from 2022.

His research aims to develop a novel therapeutic approach to treat infections of the lung by the rational application of therapeutic microorganisms as living materials. Bioinformatic analysis of metagenomic data from patients with lung disease and health is used to identify beneficial commensal bacterial and resistance mechanisms of pathogens. His areas of interests includes Metagenomic data analysis and sequence algorithms.
