Florian holds a Bachelor's degree in Biology and a Master's degree in Bioinformatics. He joined HIPS in February 2025 under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Andreas Keller.

His research focuses on the development of machine learning methods to identify molecular signatures of neurodegenerative diseases in single-cell transcriptomics data. To this end, he applies complex latent variable models to uncover meaningful patterns between healthy and diseased cells, and employs explainable machine learning techniques to extract interpretable and actionable insights from these models.
