Peter earned his PhD in Pharmacognosy from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2020 working under Dr. Jimmy Orjala.  Peter started working in the Mueller group at HIPS in May 2021 where he seeks antibiotic leads produced by myxobacteria to treat Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection.  In addition, he is evaluating secondary metabolite production and distribution trends within the Sorangiineae suborder to better understand the breadth of drug lead chemistry being produced by myxobacteria.
