Dr. Marine Ortillon obtained her PharmD degree from the University of Lyon, France, in 2021. Her thesis, conducted in the field of immunology, focused on identifying a monocyte receptor with prognostic potential for severe and long COVID-19, with the aim of improving patient triage in intensive care units.

She subsequently completed a Master’s degree in Drug Design at the University of Caen, France, before pursuing a PhD in Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Lyon, which she obtained in 2025. Her doctoral research focused on the design, synthesis, and biological evaluation of kinase inhibitors targeting protein–protein interactions implicated in tumor development. This project involved extensive scientific mobility and collaborations with research groups in both France and Germany.

Following an initial postdoctoral position in Lyon dedicated to developing a novel assay for the evaluation of kinase inhibitors, Dr. Ortillon joined the Department of Molecular Interactions and Drug Discovery at Helmholtz-Institute for Pharmaceutical Research Saarland in August 2026, under the supervision of Dr. Walid A. Elgaher. Her current research focuses on the design and synthesis of inhibitors targeting an underexplored biological target for the development of anti-infective and immunoprotective therapeutics.
