Ruijie Chen studied Biology at Shandong University from 2018 to 2022 and obtained her master’s degree in 2025 from the South China Sea Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, where she focused on elucidating tailoring enzymes involved in the biosynthesis of marine-derived natural products. She started her PhD at HIPS in 10.2025 under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Rolf Müller and Dr. Chengzhang Fu, concentrating on genome-mining-driven discovery and biosynthetic investigation of microbial secondary metabolites.
