Luca Schlautmann
About
Luca Schlautmann studied chemistry (B.Sc.) at the University of Bremen. As part of his bachelor's thesis in the Spiteller working group, he dealt with the synthesis of cycloclaopin A. He then began his Master's degree at the Leibniz University of Hanover, specializing in Medicinal Chemistry and Natural Products. During a research internship at the Institut de Chimie des Substances Naturelles (ICSN) in Gif-sur-Yvette, he worked on the hemi-synthesis of schweinfurthins under the supervision of Dr. Fanny Roussi. He completed his Master's thesis in the Heretsch group, focusing on the synthesis of lycorine-like alkaloids.
In July 2025, he began his PhD in the Antimicrobials through Chemoenzymatic Synthesis group led by Dr. Alexander Kiefer at HIPS. His current research interests include the synthesis of antimicrobial cyclic peptides, using classical organic synthesis methods combined with biocatalytic transformations.
