Kridsadakorn Prakinee
About
Kridsadakorn Prakinee (aka Nook) specializes in enzyme catalysis and enzyme engineering. He earned his Ph.D. in Biomolecular Science and Engineering in 2023 under the supervision of Prof. Pimchai Chaiyen at the Vidyasirimedhi Institute of Science and Technology (VISTEC), Thailand. His doctoral research focused on characterizing the underexplored mechanisms and improving the efficiency of a bacterial flavin-dependent tryptophan halogenase, as well as developing chemoenzymatic halogenation approaches using non-native halogenases. During his Ph.D., Kridsadakorn expanded his expertise through a one-year research stay in the group of Prof. Uwe Bornscheuer at the University of Greiswald, Germany and a short visit to the group of Prof. Jiri Damborsky at Masaryk University, Czech Republic where he gained hands-on experience in rationale-guided directed evolution and data-driven enzyme engineering, respectively. Following his Ph.D., he continued as a postdoctoral researcher in Prof. Chaiyen’s group, focusing on the development of an integrated approach to engineer a flavin-dependent monooxygenase (hydroxylase) for enantio- and site-selective biotransformations.
In August 2025, he joined Alexander Kiefer’s group as a postdoctoral researcher. His current research interests include enzyme engineering and enzyme discovery of α-ketoglutarate-dependent monooxygenases and PLP-dependent enzymes, and the chemoenzymatic synthesis of antimicrobial peptides.
