Katia obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Genomic Biotechnology from the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL) in Monterrey, Mexico, in 2020. 

In 2023, she earned her Master's degree in Biochemistry at TU Dresden. She then returned to Mexico to join a Research Ethics Committee, where she participated in the evaluation of scientific protocols and the assurance of ethical practices in the clinical field.

Katia is now pursuing her doctoral studies with the support of a DAAD scholarship, focusing her research on natural products derived from the gut microbiota.
