Christopher Slotman
About
Christopher Slotman initially studied chemistry at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern before moving to Leibniz Universität Hannover for his Master's degree with a focus on Medicinal Chemistry and Natural Products. He completed his master's thesis in Prof. Dr. Andreas Kirschning's Synthetic Chemistry group. Hereby he focused on the substrate promiscuity of terpene synthases and the synthesis of non-canonical farnesyl pyrophosphate derivatives.
In July 2025, he began his PhD in the Antimicrobials through Chemoenzymatic Synthesis group led by Dr. Alexander Kiefer at HIPS. He is working on the chemoenzymatic synthesis of antimicrobial peptide natural products using α-ketoglutarate-dependent monooxygenases. He is also working on kinetic assays for this class of enzymes.
