Christoph Porten

About

After his apprenticeship as chemical laboratory assistant, Christoph Porten studied Applied Pharmacy in the University of Applied Sciences Kaiserslautern and obtained his master’s degree in Bioanalysis at the Coburg University of Applied Sciences and Arts. In his master thesis, which he concluded under Prof. Dr. Rolf Müller in the Department Microbial Natural Products at HIPS in cooperation with Prof. Dr. Bernd Bufe and Prof. Dr. Peter Groß from the University of Applied Sciences Kaiserslautern, he identified and characterized specific, modificated peptides from different bacteria using ion mobility tandem mass spectrometry.

After successfully completing his master thesis, in July 2021, he started as PhD candidate under Prof. Dr. Rolf Müller, continuing his previous work in identifying and characterizing specific peptides as well as several new projects with the common goal of isolating and characterizing novel, bioactive compounds from different bacteria.
