Dr Ahmed Amin

About

Ahmed Amin studied Chemistry and Microbiology at Alexandria University, Egypt, and obtained an MSc in Applied Materials Science from National Central University, Taiwan. He completed his PhD in Medicinal Chemistry at Saarland University under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Anna K. H. Hirsch, carrying out research on inhibitors of the bacterial replication target β-sliding clamp (DnaN) and the virulence factor elastase (LasB) from Pseudomonas aeruginosa. His work on LasB inhibitors contributed to the development of highly potent compounds and their progression towards preclinical evaluation. Since 2026, Ahmed has been working in Business Development at HIPS, where he supports the translation of research results into applications and the development of a potential spin-off focused on antivirulence therapies for P. aeruginosa infections.
