Joscha Meiers
About
Joscha Meiers studied Pharmacy at Saarland University. In 2017, he completed his studies with the 3rd state examination and received his license to practice pharmacy. At the Chair of Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry, he completed his diploma thesis alongside Prof. Dr. Christian Ducho developing an LC-MS-based assay to evaluate the bacterial cell uptake of antibiotics. Since December 2017, he works as a PhD-student in the Chemical Biology of Carbohydrates group of Dr. Alexander Titz. His research focuses on the design of novel antibiotics for the treatment of Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections. For this purpose, he mainly uses organic and analytical chemistry to synthesize targeted antibiotics as well as biochemical and biophysical assays to assess their activity.
