Dr Sebastian Groß

Sebastian Groß studied biology at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern from September 2010 to July 2013 and got his Bachelor’s degree with focus on neurobiology. After a four-month internship at BASF (Ludwigshafen am Rhein), he started studying biotechnology at the University of Saarland (Saarbrücken) in April 2014. Sebastian finished his Master’s thesis in the HIPS-department of Microbial Natural Products in April 2016.
Since September 2016, he is working on his PhD in the Microbial Natural Products department in the field of synthetic biology and heterologous expression of natural product biosynthetic pathways. The goal of his work is to establish versatile heterologous production platforms based on synthetic DNA in order to elucidate the biosynthesis, improve production yields or broaden the production profile of interesting natural products from myxobacteria.
