Dr Carole Guimard

About

Dr. Carole Guimard is a postdoctoral researcher at the Helmholtz Institute for Pharmaceutical Research Saarland within the Drug Design and Optimization Department. She studied pharmaceutical chemistry, with a specialization in natural products, at the University of Nantes (France), where she obtained her Master's degree. Following this, she completed her PhD at the University of Paris-Saclay (France), under the supervision of Fanny Roussi. Carole focused her research on synthesizing analogues of a natural compound with cytotoxic properties and developing biological probes to elucidate its mechanism of action. She subsequently joined Anna Hirsch's group at the Helmholtz Institute for Pharmaceutical Research Saarland in April 2024 to develop compounds against antimicrobial resistance. Her expertise and interests encompass medicinal chemistry, natural products and chemical biology.
