Dominik Kolling

About

Dominik studied pharmacy at the University of Saarland in Saarbrücken (2015-2020) and did his master thesis in the Actinobacteria Metabolic Engineering Group (AMEG) under the supervision of Prof. Andriy Luzhetskyy. At this, he was involved in the elucidation of biosynthetic pathways of natural products and in the characterization of enzymes. In 2021 he became a registered pharmacist and started his PhD studies at HIPS in the group of Prof. Anna Hirsch.

Since June 2021, Dominik is studying the structural biology of novel drug targets to fight against infections with Pseudomonas aeruginosa. His main research focus lies on the characterization of the bacterial elastase LasB. Together with Prof. Jesko Köhnke, he is working on the structural biology of enzymes involved in the biosynthesis of natural products with interesting biological activities.
