Carla Sousa

Carla Sousa obtained a BSc and a MSc in Biochemistry from University of Porto (Portugal). Subsequently, she obtained the PhD degree from University of Porto, under the M2B (Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics) International Doctoral Programme. Currently, she is a Post-Doctoral researcher at HIPS, working in a project that is a collaboration between Prof. Lehr and Prof. Kalinina. Her current research is focused on the study of drug permeation across the bacterial membrane. The aim is to apply computational studies (i.e. Molecular Dynamics simulations) to describe the permeation process at an atomistic level of detail, and obtain information on the drug’s physicochemical properties that are crucial for influx into the bacterial cell.
